Hello there! I'm a
Communication Arts
and Design student

ABOUT ME

I am a 22-year-old college senior and Pittsburgher eagerly awaiting the next person whose life I can improve with the creative skills I have diligently nurtured. While I finish my degree, I want to help others turn their big ideas into eye-catching designs to be proud of. My never-ending gratitude to those who have helped me be where I am today motivates me to build meaningful connections with others. Besides design, my heart is occupied with pop rock music, podcasts, books, video games, and of course, friends and family.

How I got here:
My Design Journey

Student designer

Soon-to-be graduate

I don't want us to be strangers. Here's a little more about me to get the conversation started.

CCAC -> GROVE CITY COLLEGE

How I found my passion
in my education

Have you ever been uncertain about your passion?

I get it. It took me a while to find my passion too. I spent a year at community college majoring in Computer Science so I could focus on developing my technology skills. I took a few Java classes and a web development class where, using HTML and CSS, I coded a self-help website as my final project. They were valuable experiences, but I knew I was yearning for something more. After transferring to Grove City College, I decided to switch my major to Communication Arts and added a minor in Design. From there I hit the ground running and took as many design classes as my schedule allowed, and I fell in love with them all.

I'm excited to be regularly working with Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud apps and continuing to create, but it took me years of learning and experimenting to realize that was what I wanted to do. I also learned the value of user experience (UX) through a couple of classes that taught me how to conduct user interviews, create personas, journey maps, and synthesize data to solve problems. Those classes gave me the perspective I needed to be able to engage empathetically with clients like you as I tackle future projects.

KNOW YOUR VALUES

How my values shape
my work and can
shape yours too

1.  Practicing humility

Being self-aware of our vulnerabilities and asking for honest feedback allows others to meet us halfway, opening the door for a more sustainable relationship.

2.  Mindful listening

Intentionally choosing to tune out other thoughts and distractions that are preventing us from being present during a conversation makes others feel included and comfortable.

3.  Personal growth

Having a thirst for knowledge no matter where we are in life, being inquisitive, testing out a new skill we wouldn't have ever thought to try all contribute to personal growth.

4.  Redefining failure

Seeing our failures and embarrassments as increments of progress towards a greater understanding improves our mental health by alleviating the pressure to be perfect.

DESIGN TELLS A STORY

How my journey can
become a part of yours

So what does this all mean for YOU?

I'm glad you asked. My mentor during my junior year used to stress the importance of telling a client's story through design. I don't want to simply hop on a call and tell you "X, Y, Z are the features I am going to add to your site" and leave it at that. Instead, I want to listen to you tell me what makes your brand unique so I can come up with ways to bring that brand to life. If there is a specific website or logo that you feel inspired by, I can discuss the particulars of that design with you (i.e. the psychology behind what makes the design effective) and we can decide how to incorporate that style in our project.

I will also take the time to show you what I am doing during each phase of the design process, from the initial brainstorming stage to the rudimentary sketches, wireframing and finally to the polished final piece, and I will tell you why I did it that way so you have room to interject with your own thoughts and ideas. This will give you insight into my role as designer and will establish a rapport between us so we can explore opportunities for conversation down the road.

I've told you about me. Now I want to know About You.

Part of being a designer is learning how to tell another person's story. What's your story?
